Do You Know Elevator Pitch ?

In November, 15th 2011 Floatway (www.floatway.com) invited by Mekar (www.mekar.biz) to do elevator pitch. Alhamdullilah, but What the hell is elevator pitch ? this what I get from wikipedia :

An elevator pitch (or elevator speech or statement) is a short summary used to quickly and simply define a product, service, or organization and its value proposition. The name "elevator pitch" reflects the idea that it should be possible to deliver the summary in the time span of an elevator ride, or approximately thirty seconds to two minutes.

A variety of people, including project managers, salespeople, evangelists, and policy-makers commonly rehearse and use elevator pitches to get their point across quickly. An elevator pitch may be presented in oral, written, and video formats.

An elevator pitch is often used by an entrepreneur pitching an idea to a venture capitalist or angel investor to receive funding. Venture capitalists often judge the quality of an idea by the quality of its elevator pitch and will ask entrepreneurs for their elevator pitches in order to quickly weed out bad ideas and weak teams. Elevator pitches are also used in many other situations. Personal uses include job interviewing, dating, and summarizing professional services.

I am not experience in doing this, but I want to know how is my result and comparing my elevator pitch with each other entrepreneur pitch (in my training i am experienced in talking and explaining 8 hours a day, including for lunch and two times coffee break actually :)

This is some picture when doing one minute pitching explaining our business.

And the result, Mekar CEO talks to me : "I don't know what you talking about" hahahaha i know, i know practices makes perfect. and i am not doing practice ever all. But you now i get experienced, And sometimes you must challenge yourself for something inexperienced or something that you never know and get some critics.

See you in other elevator pitch. And of course below some tips to pitch in front off investor.

1.      You have only 60 Seconds
You may have sheer minutes (approx. 1 – 2) to impress investors, with success or failure hinging on how clearly and confidently you can deliver your presentation.

2.      Focus on the Money
What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make during the pitch?
Rambling on about their technology or business rather than the financial opportunity—explain how you and the investor will make money together. For the first meeting.
Investors assume that the technology works. You should spend a few minutes talking about the business mechanics; an interested investor will ask for more details, Spell out the amounts and number of investors you are willing to sell equity.

3.         Gauge Your Body Language
People physically judge your acumen based on how you look.
The reality is that people do judge a book by its cover.
Don't get written off by an investor before you even open your mouth.
Beyond the obvious, which is you should be well groomed, professionally dressed, and make direct eye contact.
Be careful not to wring your hands or place them in your pockets.
A certain level of nervousness is expected but if you constantly shift on your feet this sends a signal that you aren't trustworthy, maybe you are hiding something.

4.         Watch Your Tongue
Fancy talk doesn't work, it could backfire and create distrust.
Clarity is the name of the game.
The language you use to convey your concept ought to be concise.
You don't want to come across as a slick talking salesman.
Instead you want to display passion and enthusiasm.
If you are just standing there and reading your presentation with no juice, no mojo, nobody gets excited and nobody writes a check

5.         Winning Pitch
         Communicate clearly
      Introduce Your self
      Explain Unique Value proposition
      Identify your market
      Explain your competitive advantage
Explain why it will be a financial success
Explain why the investor should invest
